I know we have a separate Hillsborough section on our MB, but I think 20 years are far to important, so I´ve thought to post it here
as well. (pls give me a note if you don´t want the topic in here as well,I would remove it if you wish)

Liverpoolfc.tv 27 March 2009
A new music video recorded to raise awareness of the Hillsborough disaster - and starring ex-Reds Kenny Dalglish, John Aldridge, Phil Thompson, Bruce
Grobbelaar and Alan Kennedy - is now available to watch for FREE online.
Featuring local bands and members of the Hillsborough Families Support Group, this newly created version of Kop favourite 'Fields of Anfield
Road' - which includes an extra verse penned by LFC TV regular and Farm frontman Peter Hooton in tribute to the 96 - has been produced in remembrance of
those who lost their lives at Hillsborough.
The song will be available to download and to buy as a CD from April 6 - so make sure you stay tuned to Liverpoolfc.tv for further details. All monies raised
from the single will go directly to the HFSG.

Hooton, who along with John Power of the La's, Mick Head of Shack, Nick Kilroe from Echo and the Bunnymen, James Walsh from Starsailor and Rob Taylor of
the Troubadors, was involved in the making of the single, said: "Before Christmas the Lord Mayor Steve Rotheram got in touch and asked about the
feasibility of doing this. I spoke with Phil Hayes from the Picket and Kevin McManus from Merseyside ACME and with friends and colleagues to see if they would
support the project and there was an overwhelming response.
"Because of the nature of the song a lot of people volunteered to get involved. It is a reworking of a Kop classic and I hope it raises awareness of the
Hillsborough disaster and is a fitting tribute to the 96 and the survivors."
Councillor Rotheram added: "Hillsborough affected so many lives, not just on Merseyside but across the whole of the UK. I attended the match 20 years ago
and the passing years do not diminish the importance and the poignancy of this occasion.
"This record, the memorial service at Anfield and all the other Hillsborough remembrance events are a symbol of the fact that we will never forget the 96
young and old Liverpool fans who died."

"..Beside the Hillsborough flame
I heard a Kopite moaning
Why so many taken on that day
Justice has never been done
but their memory will cary on
There´ll be glory round the fields of Anfield Road."

Liverpool will not play CL on the 15th of April; what seems to be as something granted, as we never play PL,CL etc, on that date, it took the UEFA reportedly 5 months to reassure LFC that they won´t have to play CL on 15th of April.

UEFA statement on Hillsborough anniversary
UEFA President's statement on respecting 20th anniversary of tragedy
UEFA would like to clarify the situation regarding recent media reports suggesting that
European football's governing body has rejected a request by Liverpool FC not to play their
UEFA Champions League second leg quarter-final match on Wednesday 15 April, the 20th
anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.
"We are aware of the huge significance of the 15 April date for both Liverpool FC and their
fans, and that is why we will do our utmost to make sure that the club does not have to play
its UEFA Champions League second leg quarter-final match on that day," said UEFA
President, Michel Platini.
"I have been in regular correspondence with Liverpool FC on this matter for some time now
and fully sympathise with the club's feelings as to the importance of respecting the date of 15
April for those who lost their lives at Hillsborough. This being the 20th anniversary of that
tragic disaster in 1989 makes it even more relevant and we will take this into account,"
concluded Platini.

That article was published just before the statement of Uefa:
Incompetence beggars belief
THE one thing you can be sure about with UEFA is that you can't rely on them to do what's in the best interests of football. There have been two more examples this week.
Supposedly, Roma were on their last warning as regards the appalling behaviour of their fans. So how did UEFA react when an Arsenal fan was stabbed and a fans' bus attacked prior to the game on Wednesday night? They merely confirmed the Stadio Olimpico remains the venue for this season's final.
The pathetic UEFA spokesman William Gaillard admitted security was inadequate but said it was too late to find an alternative venue: "It is difficult to move such an event just two months before it takes place."
What about addressing the perverse decision to play the final there in the first place?
Then there's the situation regarding Liverpool and the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster.
The club wrote to UEFA as far back as October asking if, they were still engaged in the Champions League, they would not be asked to play on April 15. Fans feel very strongly that Liverpool, who haven't played on that date since, should never play on that date - as they put it: "a day for remembrance, not football".
UEFA can't guarantee it: they'll do their 'best' and will take Liverpool's representations into account when making the draw on Friday. "The chances are very good that they will not have to play on that day."
No they're not: those chances are 50-50 and that's too big a risk. Say it now UEFA: Liverpool will not be made to play on that date and if it inconveniences TV, then so be it.
Or is UEFA as stupid as their chief executive, Michel Platini, is plainly anti-English?
###
Though I don´t believe Platini is anti-english, I mostly agree with the things stated in that article.
Italy continues to have severe problems with fan agression, racism etc, so why comes that Rome was chosen as the venue for the CL final?
imho if you want to take action against that, you shouldn´t give them opportunity and raise money from the final, or am I wrong?
On the other hand, Uefa was not able to make clear decision concerning 15th of April when they should´ve reacted immediately; the death of 96 people, imo, does not need any concideration at all.
Fortunately, Uefa respected the wish for "a day for remembrance, not football".
