Debate: should Carlos Tevez leave Manchester United and join Liverpool?
The news that Rafael Benítez is preparing an audacious bid to sign Carlos Tévez is bound to ruffle feathers at Old Trafford.
The Argentina forward is increasingly resigned to leaving Manchester United after becoming frustrated at his loss of favour since Dimitar Berbatov's arrival from Tottenham Hotspur, having not started any of the club's four matches in the Champions League knockout phase. However, Sir Alex Ferguson has not yet given up hope of retaining Tévez's services, despite the forward's growing discontent.
But is Tevez right to want to leave Old Trafford, where his tenacity and hunger have won over the supporters, almost all of whom favour him over the languid talents of Berbatov? If Ferguson does allow Berbatov to move on in the summer, or Cristiano Ronaldo fulfils his "dream" to join Real Madrid, Tevez could well find himself back in the frame at Old Trafford.
On the other hand, he could move to Anfield. It can be taken for granted that he would immediately go from hero to arch villain in the eyes of United supporters, but he could well find himself leading the line alongside Fernando Torres next season.
